You are bidding on a Shabti, faience, found in Luxor Egypt in the early 19th century. The Shabti is made of faience, wears a tripartite Wig and false beard, has age related encrustation. It holds agricultural implements in both hands and carries a basket over the back. It dates to around 800 BC. Very clear facial features. One of the best Shabtis we have seen. Intact, untouched. Old English collection. From English auction house. Height: 6 1/4 inches.

From Yahoo Ancientartifacts Group:

T: Ushabtis 1 and 2 have strangely curved bases which are quite definitely wrong. Ushabti 3 although it has a flat front to the base, still has sharp angles between the base and the back pillar. Glaze on faience does not craze like this, since it is not applied to the surface of the faience but most commonly is mixed in with the faience paste and rises to the surface as it dries, leaving a thin layer of salts which then fuse in firing to form a thin but uniform glaze. Were it not for the crazing on the glaze and the two previous pieces with the curved front to the base it would be hard to determine as fake from the photographs.
