The above listed item is from the Ptlolemaic Period(332-20 B.C.E.). This incredible "Sitting Anubis" is carved from wood We acquired this exquisite item from a select private collection and its provenance is from Alexandria, Egypt. Depicted is a striding Anubis god in headdress, kilt with sash and arms to his side. It has retained most of its original black. These type of Anubis figures were usually blessed by the priests and found in the tomb of the deceased. It has an ear missing; otherwise, it's intact with earthen encrustation and age wear. This is a wonderful addition to a true collector of fine Egyptian antiquities! The reason for the item being available is due to the vast extent of old archeological findings, thousands of years in Egyptian burials and also the proliferation of these said items in private collections worldwide. Height:39cm Width:10.5cm Depth:18cm.
